If you have clicked to this page, we can assume that you are relatively
new to "surfing" the World Wide Web of the Internet...
We wish
to assist you and other "newbies" as you are called, by giving you
some basic tips that you may not be aware of yet:
First
off, when you see an icon or text that says "FAQs", this stands for
"Frequently Asked Questions". It is a page
where you can go and have some of the most commonly asked questions
answered for you.
When
you move your mouse around on a page, you will notice that sometimes
it changes from a pointer to a "hand". What this means is that if
you "click" your mouse when it is a "hand", it takes you somewhere
else... it could be a different page, or, a different location on
the same page. These are called "links", "hyper-text links", "hot
links" or several other terms but they all mean the same thing.
Images
are used frequently with "links" hidden inside them. The way you will
know that is to move your mouse over an image and see if you get the
"hand". Sometimes you will see a colored border around an image and
this CAN signify a link...but not always. The mouse pointer changing
to a "hand" is how you know for sure. You decide whether or
not to "click" on it to see where it goes if it is not obviously stated.
Most BROWSERS (that is what the software you are using now is called...
be it Netscape of Internet Explorer etc.) have a "BACK" button on
them. This button will take you back one page at a time so you can
return to where you were before you clicked, if you want to.
Sometimes it is a large arrow that points either left or right and
indicates going backwards or forwards.
You
may also find links in the text of a web page. Usually these
are not only underlined (a default setting in your software), but
in a different color. Again, if your mouse pointer changes to a "hand"
it is a link. If it does not change, it is not a link.
