This is
probably one of the most-asked questions we get on search engines. The
response is not as clear-cut as most people would like it to be.
Depending
on WHICH search engine you are using, WHAT key words and phrases you
use, HOW you are doing your search, WHEN you are doing your search and
just how EXPERIENCED you are at using a search engine all come into
play. Not all search engines are created equal. Not all search
engines index submitted sites at the same speed. Some engines go deeper
into a site than others. These factors all affect the answer to this
question.
Many search
engines will take up to 6-12 weeks before their automated software
"bots" or "spiders" actually gets around to visiting
your site and adding it to it's database... if it decides to
do so. A few of the major ones index fairly quickly, but most do not.
We have no control over this process. Fortunately we are crawled
by Google and Yahoo frequently so our clients normally are included
fairly quickly in the main databases.
Some will
index you, some will not, some do not work properly during a search,
etc. You must be aware that this is an evolving technology on the Internet
and how we would like it to work, and the reality of how it does work,
are two different things.
Suffice
to say, Ad Wizards attempts to do as many of the right things
as possible for the search engines and getting our clients indexed correctly,
and overall we get pretty good results over a period of time.
Key words here are "over a period of time". You will rarely
get indexed by all of the search engines so keep this in mind unless
you want to spend a fair bit of money to get on a fast track.
As a final
bit of information on this subject: when you are an Ad Wizards client,
your site is tied into our " Ad Wizards' web". We are constantly
submitting websites to the Search Engines and the ones that DO "crawl"
all links of a website to index the context, will be sent to your site
as well and added again, and again to their database. This helps get
you back into a database when you consider that you may have been dropped
by an engine for reasons unknown. Submissions are an ongoing process.
While things
are still evolving, and costs get higher, you must be serious if you
want to market on the Internet at this point in time. The days of doing
things quick and cheap on the net have pretty much passed. The first
impression your site makes on a visitor is also a big factor at this
time as well.
