As you know, my pool in Lakeway was completed one year ago. I just wanted to write a short note telling you all how lucky I feel to have connected with such a fine company as yours.

Having never owned a pool, I wasn’t sure what I wanted or what was possible, much less, which pool company to choose from all the companies in town. After deciding on my initial design and options, you began construction on time, and I was immediately impressed with your obvious skill and integrity.

Working with Dan was a pleasure. He was meticulous and seems to enjoy his job very much. Unlike other contractors I have worked with, anytime there was a glitch or delay, Dan kept me informed and I appreciated that. He made me feel confident that quality pool was being built. Since completion of the pool, there have been very few problems. When I have had a question or there has been a problem, Steve has been prompt in responding to the situation. You three guys seem to have a successful relationship, each of you doing what he does best, and you compliment each other very well.

My wife and I have dealt with building contractors and pool contractors in the past and were not looking forward to repeating the experience again. However, we could not find the home we wanted and began the process all over again. Selecting a builder was not easy, but I think we were fortunate and got a good one.

Some friends in Lakeway told us horror stories about their experience with builders and the tales were only worse when we began asking about pool contractors.

However, we wanted a pool, and called two pool contractors and, I think we intended to get three bids. We met with one of your competitors and got a bid and what sounded like a memorized sales pitch. We visited with you next and got no more bids.

You were (you are) a gentleman, articulate, and patient. Above all, you provided some creative ideas concerning construction and explained the process to us. You also explained that you were the administrative and sales person in a three-man organization. Dan would be in charge of the actual construction phase, and Steve would finish the process by supervising the installation of the pluming and equipment.

So, we were agreed that you were a very nice fellow – the inside man. We figured that Dan and Steve would be cut from a different mold. What a pleasant surprise it was to meet Dan and Steve and realize there wasn’t really much difference in the three of you – all were very professional, answered questions, and explained what was going on.

Throughout the process, it was nothing but a good experience. And, we wanted to say:

To begin with, I received quotes for the pool from three firms, one of which was Tri-County. Not only was your quote the most favorable, but the integrity of the pool was much better than your competitors. The gunite walls were thicker and the amount of steel rebar was significantly higher than the others. Having a technical background, I would have chosen Tri-County for this reason alone.

We have had our pool for about four years and other than normal maintenance, the pool has been trouble free. I have called your firm a few times for advice and if you were not able to answer the phone immediately, you returned my calls quickly. As a retired businessman, I can tell you that this is extraordinary service.

Now that Kristin and I have several months to live with our new pool, I wanted to write and thank you for the excellent job! This was our first experience with pool construction, so I did a lot of research and spoke with several pool construction companies before selecting Tri-County Pools. Our house is located in central Austin and our yard presented substantial construction challenges. I was initially concerned that there might not be any practical way to build a pool in our yard. John thoroughly impressed me with his “can-do” attitude and intelligent and creative approach to solving construction problems. I appreciated the detailed, itemized cost estimate he presented with his construction proposal – it really helped me understand exactly where my money was going and helped establish the credibility of the proposal. John also helped me reassure some of my more “sensitive” neighbors that our construction project would have minimal impact on them. All these factors combined convinced me that Tri-County Pools would be the best company to build my pool. I was not disappointed.

Once construction started, I was extremely impressed with Dan and all the crews that focused on the different aspects of construction. The quality of all the work (particularly the limestone work) was extremely high, and the high quality of the workmanship noticeably enhances the beauty of the entire project. Any problems that arose during construction were promptly resolved to my satisfaction. I especially appreciated John and Dan’s willingness to help manage and coordinate additional aspects of my project including landscaping, irrigation, and fencing.

Having a pool in our backyard has really made this hot Austin summer livable. Even when we are not swimming in the pool, we really enjoy the dramatic view it presents from inside the house. Thanks again for the outstanding job! We will not hesitate to recommend you to all of our friends.

After meeting with Ron, I felt very confident we were making the right decision in choosing Tri-County to build our pool. He was wonderful to work with in helping design our pool. I wanted to take a moment to say thanks for a job well done. Donna and I really appreciated working with all of you and really appreciated how you held our hand each step of the way.

We immediately realized that there was a lot more to this than just “getting a pool”. From deciding on the right design and size for our house and yard, to landscaping, tile, rock, and decking. The decisions and process could have been overwhelming. We started with a modest budget and assumed we would have to settle and cut options we wanted to make it work out. To the contrary, you exceeded our expectations and we got everything we wanted in our pool. Everyone listened to out unending questions and suggestions and guided us through the process to a final product that is just awesome. We especially appreciated you taking the time to consider Donna’s special needs, with her arthritis, and designed the beach entry to her exact specifications, and at no extra cost.

In summary and if I had to do it all over again, Tri-County would be the only place I would call. Please feel free to use us as a reference as we would love to show off our backyard.

Building a pool and its associated environment in your backyard is really a three pronged adventure. In all three cases; choices, management and sub-contractors, Tri-County could not have performed better.

What you build is all based on choices. From budgetary and existing house and landscaping constraints to figuring out what you want and don't want in a pool environment is an almost insurmountable layering of choices. Every Tri-County employee listened, suggested and coached with equal amounts of realism, excitement and functionality. It is a tribute to Dan Allen's abilities that now that it's all completed there is not one thing in the whole project I would change if I had it all to do over again.

To me, management of a project is a combination of always being there, always being flexible and always overseeing every piece of the project to ensure maximum results. Tri-County, from my 10:00 PM idea calls to my thinking of a detail that they already thought of and completed yesterday to their critical oversight of every step, proved to be superlative managers. The epitome of their management was the fact that the entire project was finished in 6 weeks regardless of the fact that one week was lost to rain.

As we all know, the strongest chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Plumbers, electricians, concreters, plasterers, deck builders, landscapers, irrigators and more were each a link in the project. I am relieved, excited and thankful that Tri-County used only the best craftsmen who in turn handled each process in both a professional and exemplary manner. Their combined efforts resulted in the absence of a weak link and rather an argument of which group did the most expertise job, as all were perfectionists.

In summary, Tri-County and specifically Dan Allen exceeded all my expectations in every facet of the project and made the construction of a resort in my backyard a wonderful adventure.

I just wanted to say, after three years of having our pool installed, we are all enjoying it on a daily basis. I don't think I would change a thing. Thank you John, Dan, and Steve!!! It really was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

When I built my new house in 1994, the exterior-landscape and pool was almost as important to me as my house plans.
